Introduction
Open Section - A five round Swiss tournament. Games will be FIDE & ECF rated.
Kings Section Under 1450 (ECF Grade 100) - A five round Swiss tournament. Games will be ECF rated.
Time Control
15 minutes plus 10 seconds increment. Default time after 5 minutesTime Table - Saturday 6 November

Registration and Entry Fee
£18 per entry. Payment will only be accepted on line.Payment on the day if space available £20.
Note for parents regarding security
- The Congress is jointly organised by David Clayton (Ribble Chess Congress) and Julian Clissold (MJC)
- The venue provides high quality accommodation and it has secure design and layout
- All the adults who run the Congress are volunteers. They are required to have full police clearance
- The Congress has Public Liability Insurance. However, children’s belongings are not insured and they are advised not to bring expensive toys.
- MJC holds emergency contacts for all participants. This is a condition of entry
- Children are supervised by volunteers. Occasionally we ask parents to support us when the children are between rounds
- The Congress has adopted the ECF code of practice in relation to child safeguarding
- The lead safeguarding officer is J Clissold
COVID safety arrangements
- Players must not attend if they have Covid symptoms
- Players must not attend if they have tested positive for COVID, or are required to self-isolate
- Spectators, and players who have finished their game, are not allowed in the playing hall
- One meter space separation will be adhered to in the playing area
- Hand sanitisers and face coverings available on request
- Parents, please be aware, there is limited space within the venue. Parents wishing to have more personal space may wish to remain in their cars and use the carpark at the rear of the venue.
