NEJCA 2023 May Individual (Over the Board) chess event

Entry to the event is online via the NEJCA section on the Congress.org.uk website

Entry fees (online): GBP 6.

NEJCA is pleased to announce its third individual over the board tournament of this year. This event is open to all young people attending school in Scotland. The player’s current (live) grade on Chess Scotland Allegro list will be used as a guide to what section should be entered. New players will be entered in the list based on the details they supply.

All games will be graded on the Chess Scotland Allegro list.

Tournaments in three groups (Novice , Intermediate ,Open (Advanced)).

20 mins + 5 sec increment per move per player (Open, Intermediate)

Or 25 min per player (Novice)

At least 5 rounds of games.

Please choose the correct section from the drop down list within the entry form)

Open (Advanced) - any junior player graded over 750

Intermediate - any Primary or Secondary pupil graded below 750 (including Ungraded)

Novice - school pupils who are ungraded or graded below 300 in the Chess Scotland allegro list

New/novice players are encouraged to enroll in the NOVICE or INTERMEDIATE section.

Please use the online entry page ('Enter' tab above) to add your entry, then use the Pay button to pay by Paypal. Entries will be automatically entered onto the Entries page when the payment has been accepted.

There is no fee for participants who claim free school meals. If you wish to claim free entry, please fill out the form and instead of pressing the pay button at the end and let us know via the contact page that you have filled out the form.

Once successful, the player's name will be displayed on the 'Entrants' list on this website (Congress.org.uk).

Please select your child's school name in the drop-down menu "Club" or add in the "Details if not in the grading list" area within the form.

Please ignore the FIDE details requested on the entry form. These details are not required.

Conditions for entry:

The organizers reserve the right to:

1. Enforce anti-cheating rules.

2. Merge tournaments into one if there is an insufficient entry.

3. Transfer entrants between groups as per their ratings.

4. Take measures deemed necessary to ensure smooth running of the event.

5. Juniors must obtain the permission of a parent/guardian before playing.

6. Primary school children must be accompanied by an adult. 1 adult can be responsible for 8 children.

7. All data will be held in compliance with the Chess Scotland Data Protection policy.
